Kyriakos Papadopoulos was born in December of 1945 in Limassol. From 1966 until 1974, he studied chemistry and enology in Prague, where he obtained the "Master of Science in chemistry and food technology" diploma. He did there for some time different jobs, working as an enologist, brewer and also as a reporter in the national radio station of Prague, in the foreign transmissions section. He came back to Cyprus in 1976. He is married and has two children. Now he is the General Director of LOEL, one of the biggest wineries in Cyprus. Till 1999 he was a member of the Committee of Wine Specialists. Kyriakos Papadopoulos began writing from a small age. Some of his poems were published through times in local newspapers and magazines. He was one of the first who helped publishing the "Mathitiki Floga", a newspaper of the Second Males High School, where his first stories were published. Later as a student in Prague, he was a member of the publishing committee of the Cypriot students, who had their own newspaper, in which also his poems and novels were published. After 1976, when he returned to Cyprus, he developed an important activity in writing poems and novels, which for different reasons he did not publish. KYPROEPIA Publishing House, published in 2000 his first book "Feather and light" , which is a science fiction novel. In December 2002, the same Publishing House published the historic novel "The Dragman, an imprisoned soul", while on September 2003 the technical book "Enology for Everybody" was published, a book that presents the technology of producing wine, in a simple manner, so it will be understood by everybody. At the same time he gives useful advices to wine lovers about all the matters that may concern them. In August was published a unique book about the oldest wine in the whole world, with the title "Commandaria - the fable wine". |
Kyriakos D. Papadopoulos | The same publishing House is preparing to publish in 2004 one more of his books, a historic novel, which describes the life of the soldiers during the early years of the creation of the Cyprus Army with the title "Homeland and love".
Other works that are waiting to be published: 1. "Isaakios Komnenos- the anti-crusador" , historic novel (550pages) 2. "Music of the Winds", science fiction novel (300 pages) 3. "Xiliades fota sta perata"("Thousand lights in the far") , science fiction novel (300 pages) 4. "Akanthino Stefani" ("Brankursine wreath"), novel based on the revolution against the English (130 pages). 5. "Mi madas tis Margarites" ("Don't pick the daisies"), a novel, based on the story of a Cypriot family through the times (300 pages) 6. "Simia kai Terata" ("Signs and wonders") , a collection of 14 short stories (250 pages) 7. "Poems and Odes", a collection of poems and odes. (250 pages) 8. "Cyprus Epopee", poems dedicated to Cyprus 9. "Maria Synglitiki", historic novel. He has in drawers a lot of other books that remain unfinished, while at the same time the writer is proceeding with the writing of a book by the title "The Spirit of the Wine", which is probably the only one in the whole Greek world that gets down to the story, the technology and the technique of the production of the alcoholic beverages. |
